Hearts & Hands: Where Purpose Begins with People

Written by Limbach | Nov 26, 2025 3:16:25 PM

When we care for the communities where we live and work, we strengthen the foundation of everything else: our culture, our partnerships, and our shared sense of purpose.

Hearts & Hands was created in 2023 with a mission rooted in humanity: to give every employee the opportunity to make a difference beyond their day-to-day work, and to help build a culture where everyone feels they belong, they matter, and they can make an impact.

And that impact has been felt, not only inside our company but across the communities we call home.

This year, Limbach was named a 2025 Most Loved Workplace® for the second year in a row, with special recognition for the meaningful volunteer efforts led by our employees. That honor reflects something much deeper than volunteer hours or donation drives. It reflects a workforce driven by purpose, woven together by values, and committed to lifting others up, one small action at a time.

A Culture of Belonging, Powered by Care

As an Embrace ERG, Hearts & Hands is grounded in belonging. It brings people together from every role, every branch, and every background around one shared commitment: We Care.

That care shows up in countless ways: packing supplies for students, supporting families during the holidays, lending a hand during times of crisis, or stepping into our communities simply to help where needed. Some moments are big and visible. Others are quiet and personal. But every act reflects who we are: people led by compassion, integrity, accountability, and innovation.

Because true belonging isn’t about fitting in, it’s about being invited to show up as you are and contribute in the ways that feel meaningful to you.

Hearts & Hands gives employees that space.  And when employees feel connected to purpose, it extends beyond our walls, into the communities we serve and the partnerships we build. We don’t just maintain and service our customers’ facilities; we show up alongside them, supporting the same giving back initiatives, charities, and causes that matter to them. People who feel cared for show up differently, they solve differently, collaborate differently, and bring energy and commitment to every project. Our customers feel that difference not only in the quality of our work, but in the shared purpose and impact we create together.

Small Steps, Big Impact

The beauty of Hearts & Hands is that the scale of a single event doesn’t define it; the consistency of small, intentional acts of kindness defines it.

This past year, employees across the company rallied in powerful ways. From supporting local schools and shelters to partnering with veterans organizations, animal rescues, and community nonprofits, our teams found ways—big and small—to show up. Some lent their time. Others donated goods. Many inspired teammates joined in.

And through it all, our values guided us:

  • We Care: For each other, our neighbors, and our communities.

  • We Act with Integrity: Choosing compassion even when no one is watching.

  • We Are Accountable: Showing up and following through.

  • We Are Innovative: Finding creative ways to make a difference, no matter the challenge.

What we’ve learned is that community impact doesn’t require perfection. It requires willingness. And when that willingness is shared across hundreds of employees, it becomes a force of positive change.

Caring for One Another, Too

Hearts & Hands isn’t only about the communities outside our walls; it’s also about caring for the people within them. After Hurricane Milton, employees stepped up immediately to support colleagues facing a crisis. That compassion led to the creation of our Disaster Relief Fund, helping ensure no team member faces hardship alone.

Moments like these reveal the true heart of who we are: a company where caring isn’t just a value we talk about, it’s a value we live.

A Message from Caitlin Barry, Hearts & Hands ERG Lead

“Since stepping into the role of Hearts & Hands lead, I’ve been humbled and inspired by the generosity I see across our branches every day. People don’t participate because they have to—they participate because they truly care.

This ERG is about belonging, about taking care of one another, and about showing up in ways that feel authentic and meaningful. Whether someone is donating a coat, volunteering for an hour, organizing a drive, or encouraging a teammate to join in, each action adds to a ripple of good that reaches farther than we realize.

I feel incredibly grateful to walk alongside so many employees who give their hearts and hands so willingly. Together, we’ve shown that the smallest acts of kindness can create the largest impact.” Caitlin Barry
